Just read the book for the second time. Totally captivating. You made 'Pops' and Co. come to life. I want to learn more and see more pics/video of the greatest horse of all time. Can you help me find more footage?

We Americans love happy endings and being raised in Hollywood movie houses . What could be better done then the film SEABISCUIT. This film expressed our emotions of a time long gone.
Hating animal cruelty and today horse raceing business I Found joy in this film of a special time in America and this truely GREAT HORSE. A time of kindness strength and courage with love and respect for ANIMALS. More has given us less. Thanks to this beautiful rich film that allowing me back to this magic time.

As a horse loving person and one who has been involved with Harness (Standardbred Racing here in New Zealand for many years I have been fascinated with your wonderful book on the great Seabiscut. I have just finished rereading this for the third time and found it as absorbing as ever. Your descriptions of the main figures in the Seabiscuit story would be as good as any I have ever read. You have truly made them "Come Alive" Go well in all your future endeavours.

Laura, I picked up your book again to refresh my memory. I use the story in my MBA classes that I teach. Thanks. When I saw you on the dust jacket of the book, I am reminded of a poem by John Donne when he went into Germany:
Churches are best for Prayer,
that have least light:
To see God only,
I go out of sight:
And to 'scape stormy days,
I choose
An Everlasting night.
I hope you have found a path to health. If not, keep looking. Thanks again for the hope you have brought us.

Loved your book even though know nothing about horseracing - Johnny Longden used to rent a room from my grandmother on Mcgill street in Vancouver near the Hastings racetrack -I remember going with her when I was six to the stables to sell raspberries -which of course were quickly sold out- I am 65 now but still have vivid memories of that summer and all the excitment surrounding horseracing. Hope for another book soon. Karin

I liked the movie a lot, but when I looked through and bought the book was I ever surprised and amazed at how Laura was able to keep the story moving with so many details and then after Seabiscuit won over War Admiral, Laura continued to hold my attention. From the moment I started reading her book, I was hooked...her book is far superior to the movie (which is also well done). Thanks, Laura, for the gift you shared with us and for your ongoing fight with your illness...keep up the fight.

When the economy sputtered a champion arose and we found him in Seabiscuit and again this year in Mine That Bird who taught us dreams come true. Thank you for writing such a heartfelt tribute to The Biscuit!

Besides wanting to say what a wonderful -- and truly inspirational -- book this is...I want to ask if you might know where I could find a photo of my cousin, Sonny Greenberg..... I have read about him, and heard about him, and would love to find a copy. Thank you for your book...

I am engaged to Chuck Lustick who's great uncle was Mike Smith, trainer for Seabiscuit. I would like to give him a Christmas present of the black and white photos you have in your book. Chuck lost everything he owned in Hurricane Katrina. This would be such a great present one I know he would treasure.
Thank you,

Just a note to say how much I enjoyed your book-Seabiscuit.My wife is almost finished with it and is equally impressed with your work.
We are not regular race fans ,but my wife Rosemary's parents were part owners in a race horse and enjoyed betting on them.
Thank you very much for the great read!
Warmest regards

A heart felt story. A incredible horse that change a nation when there was no hope. This horse gave all humans at that time period hope, that engraved in the hearts of all beyond human levels. We now need a Seabicuit today more than ever. We can only hope that it is not to late.

Wonderful book! In the end, it is so bittersweet. So much love, success and sadness. When did Tom Smith have children, and how many did he have? My heart went out to all of the main characters; the love that each showed to Seabiscuit, and vice versa, was truly moving.

I am reading your fantastic book for the second time, and having lived in Lexington KY for 10 years I fell in love with thoroughbreds, but what I really love about your book is the beauty of the writing and the many facts I have learned in many subjects. Thank you. I have had CFIDS for 10 years and though lead a full and happy life, I cannot work full time and want my life back. Any help for me?

Did you come across the name of Clarence Buxton- jockey and trainer from 1910 through the 60's. This is my grandfather. He trained for the son of Seabiscit's owner and Bing Crosby-among many others. I have many old photos- I would like to know more about him
